About

Hello, I’m David Fisher. I have skills in video production and post-production and my goal is to work on a media team doing all things visual. I enjoy being involved in creating realistic scenes and studying lighting and graphic design. I can pick up new skills quickly and enjoy a good challenge.

Work Bio

I first got my start making films when I was 10. I received degree in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University, where I learned basics of video the worked on multiple films including as cinematographer for my senior project.

Chai Lifeline

In Summer 2019, I joined the media team of a camp for children affected by cancer, where I filmed and edited a 2-minute promo video for their social media. This video was a real challenge because I had only one week to produce it from start to finish and I had no previous experience with this camp or its culture before arriving. The final video was both rewarding and well-received; I cherished the short time I spent there and the video was viewed 18k+ times.

Food Photography

Until the pandemic, I worked as a food supervisor at a restaurant, which gave me the opportunity to separately contract with the owners to photograph their food. I had to teach myself the basics of food styling, so I poured over photos shot by professional food photographers and watched many tutorials to learn the principles of a good food photo. The photos were a success and the restaurant contracted with me to photograph most of their menu. I then made a promo video with animated graphics for another restaurant.

School Photo Assistant

I also was an assistant for a school photography company, where I had the privilege of working with the other assistants and photographers to efficiently direct up to 900 students and staff per day. I learned a lot about teamwork in this position.

Internships

During college, I had two internships:

In Summer 2018, I photographed and made animated videos for a lifestyle publication. My mentor there helped me improve my eye for photographs and my emailing skills, and in addition to being a second-shooter, I reached out to several businesses and put together my own photo essays. It was a partner company with the DC’s local ABC station, so I got to see the inner workings of the newsroom and the TV studio.

In Fall 2016, I interned for a post-production company producing Bandit Patrol, a TV show for NatGeo Wild. Among my assignments, I logged clips and scanned episodes for copyright issues and created thumbnails for the web.

In my spare time, I like to create maps and 3D graphics using blender. I recently completed a multi-month long coding project using D3.js of an election model, and was able to vastly improve my skills in interactive graphics. modelelection.com
